The journey across the Kingdom of Lesotho was one of the most beautiful experiences on our first part of our trip thru Africa. Steep, narrow mountain roads alternate with modern asphalt roads in this mountain state. People seem to be happier, but also much poorer than in South Africa. It looks like the government has launched a development toward modern times, which works sustainably. The vast mountain landscape and the white plastic boots will stay in our mind for ever. We noticed that apparently everyone wears these white boots and on our request we were told that they are qualitatively better than the black ones.
This is such a vivid and engaging travel experience, and it really captures the unique charm of Lesotho. The contrast between the rugged mountain roads and modern infrastructure paints a clear picture of a country balancing tradition and development. I especially enjoyed the cultural detail about the white plastic boots, which adds authenticity and makes the story more memorable. Your observations about the people, the landscape, and the gradual progress toward modernization make this a thoughtful and insightful piece. It truly highlights why Lesotho stands out as a special destination in Africa.
Thank you so much for the kind words, we live off them. 😉
