Rainy season
Rainforest can be exhausting. When we wanted to drive to a nice camp site, we were stuck between the lush bushes. During three hours four people helped us to make our way through the bush. Since then there is a great passage – until next year, then it is fully grown again.
Sometimes the rain causes very slippery surfaces. When Gabi wanted to reach the stairs with some plates in both hands, she lost the grip and – instead of falling – she pushed me down the stairs, which prevented her falling down but caused me a twisted ankle.
Visit
After dinner it always gets dark very quickly. Of course, that does not prevent us from sitting comfortably in front of our house as the temperatures are still pleasantly. If the enormous swarms of mosquitoes were not there, this strenuous activity would be even more enjoyable. One evening, I always heard such smacking noises nearby, but did not see anything in the dark. Since the noise did not stop, I looked into the matter. About 3 meters away from us three hippos peacefully grazed! If they had not ignored us so callously, we would have been really scared. It was a fantastic experience.
At MAN Lusaka, we had our annual service done, all quick and easy. Pieter the manager did spontaneously invite us to his home – with Globi! However, the entrance to the guarded garden was a bit more difficult than expected, but of course we have managed to get in. The evening with Pieter and Hannelie was extremely pleasant.
